NC DWI Assessments & Services
Statewide NC DWI assessments are conducted via secure Zoom. Schedule online for the fastest availability
What to Expect During Your NC DWI Assessment?
Getting a DWI can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to navigate the complex DMV and court system alone. Every DWI in North Carolina requires a state-approved substance use assessment before you can regain your driving privileges. At Breathe Wellness, we conduct these assessments via secure Zoom telehealth.
The DWI assessment is a confidential clinical interview designed to gather the information necessary to determine the appropriate recommendation based on North Carolina requirements and your individual circumstances. To complete your assessment accurately, the State of North Carolina requires us to review the following documents:
- Your official driving record.
- Your breathalyzer or blood test reading (BAC) from the time of the incident.
- Your citation or ticket.
The Breathe Wellness Process
- Schedule Your Assessment: Book online or call us. We often have availability within the same week.
- Receive Your Individualized Recommendation: Your recommendation is determined by North Carolina DWI requirements, your assessment results, clinical needs, BAC, and other relevant factors. Recommendations may range from ADETS (Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School) to outpatient treatment or a higher level of care, including residential/inpatient treatment when clinically indicated.
- Begin Your Classes: Enroll in our convenient evening telehealth sessions to complete your mandated hours.
- We Handle the e-508 Filing: Once all required services have been successfully completed, required documentation has been received, and account requirements have been satisfied, Breathe will electronically submit the Certificate of Completion (e-508) through the North Carolina DWI system.

Why Get Assessed Immediately?
In North Carolina, completing your DWI assessment promptly provides several legal and practical advantages:
- It is required prior to receiving a Limited Driving Privilege (LDP) 10 days into your 30-day civil revocation period.
- Having an assessment on file during your trial demonstrates proactive responsibility, which can reduce the level of punishment and potentially help avoid active jail time.
- It clarifies your exact educational or treatment requirements early on so you can plan your schedule and finances accordingly.
